The Moscow Musical and Drama Theater "Teresa Durova Theater" presents a musical drama based on the play by A.S. Pushkin "Mozart and Salieri. Version".
The darling of fate, the "golden boy" Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the no less brilliant Antonio Salieri, whose name is always mentioned second. The brilliant side of their lives is enthusiastic spectators, ovations, divine music. But there is something that they prefer not to show to outsiders: the composers are bound by irresistible feelings that subjugate the spirit, destroy the consciousness - this is envy and jealousy of each other.
In the play, the director refers not only to Pushkin's text, but also to the Milan trial of 1997 on the alleged murder of Mozart. During the trial, witnesses for the prosecution and defense were heard, and after 200 years, an unbiased verdict was rendered.
"Mozart and Salieri. Version" is an ode to great musicians and at the same time a psychological analysis of human feelings. The production constantly throws viewers into different time layers on the border between reality and artistic fiction. This makes the story absolutely unpredictable and even detective-like.
The performance features live music: overtures from the opera "Vespasian" by Attilio Ariosti, the suite "Battle" by Heinrich von Biber, arias by Henry Purcell and Italian madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi and, of course, works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri.
