On Christmas Eve, guests begin to gather in the beautiful house of Dr. Stahlbaum. Girls and boys follow the adults, playing around.

Action I

Dr. Stahlbaum's children Masha and Fritz, like other children, are looking forward to gifts. The last of the guests is Drosselmeyer. His ability to bring toys to life not only amuses children, but also frightens them. Drosselmeyer takes off his mask. Masha and Fritz recognize their beloved godfather.

Masha wants to play with the dolls, but is saddened to learn that they have all been removed. To calm the girl down, her godfather gives her a Nutcracker. The strange expression on the doll's face amuses her. The naughty and mischievous Fritz accidentally breaks his doll. Masha is upset. But the godfather repairs the doll and Masha is happy. She puts her favorite doll to bed.

The holiday ends and the guests dance the traditional “Gross Vater” dance, after which everyone goes home. The night is coming. The room in which the tree is located is filled with moonlight. Masha returns, she hugs the Nutcracker. And then suddenly a mouse appears, led by the Mouse King. The brave Nutcracker leads the battle.

The Nutcracker and the Mouse King meet in mortal combat. Masha sees that the army of mice is superior to the Nutcracker's forces In desperation, she takes off her shoe and throws it with all her might at the Mouse King. He is frightened and at that moment the Nutcracker strikes the Mouse King with a victorious sword blow.

The Nutcracker has won!

Suddenly the Nutcracker's face begins to change. He stops being an ugly doll and turns into a handsome Prince. Masha and the Prince are together and snowflakes are spinning around.

Act II

Masha and the Prince admire the beauty of the starry sky. Everyone is dancing and having fun, celebrating the victory over the mouse army. Spanish, Indian and Chinese dolls thank Masha for saving their lives. Beautiful fairies and pages dance around. Everyone is preparing for the royal wedding of Masha and the Prince. Masha wakes up. The Nutcracker is still in her hands. She's in a familiar room. Alas, it was just a fabulous dream...
