The unique program of the outstanding choreographer of the 20th century Leonid Yakobson is carefully restored famous productions of the great master: the one-act ballet "The Wedding Procession", choreographic masterpieces from the cycles "Rodin" and "Classicism-Romanticism". The premiere was timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first concert program created by Jacobson for the troupe he led, which was successfully premiered in June 1971.

Ballet Theatre. L. Yakobson returns to the repertoire the unique creative heritage of the artist, who in many ways changed the face of the Leningrad-Petersburg ballet and the world theater as a whole. After a long break, miniatures based on Rodin's sculptures will be presented, which once shocked contemporaries with their eroticism. Young artists are rehearsed by teachers who worked under the guidance of the master.

“Leonid Yakobson (1904-1975), founder and artistic director of the choreographic miniatures troupe, now known under his name, was known as the main troublemaker of the Soviet ballet. His ideological guardians were probably frightened by the unpredictability of the author's fantasy. Sometimes he decides to revive Rodin's sculptures by dressing the performers in tight bodily overalls - and it's one thing when stones are hugging, and quite another when living bodies are so unbridled intertwined. Then in the "Wedding Procession" - quite inopportunely, at the height of the world campaign for the free exit of Jews from the USSR - he will reproduce Chagall's shtetl inhabitants, and, after all, with what sympathy! That will begin to fight the philistinism in "Klop" - just when the hunt for Czech typefaces has become especially relevant. It is no wonder that the repertoire of "Choreographic Miniatures" was under special control: the choreographer, having acquired his own troupe for the first time at the age of 65, literally gushed out ideas and staged with youthful indefatigability.

Tatyana Kuznetsova, Kommersant

“If Leonid Yakobson (1904-1975) lived not in the USSR in the era of ideologically sustained art, but in a different place at a different time, the centenary of his birth would be celebrated not only by professionals and an advanced public. But Yakobson worked in such an era that encyclopedias add the adjective "Soviet" to his profession "choreographer". Living under the Iron Curtain, he remained little known in the world, although the importance of Jacobson in the history of ballet is no less than that of Petipa or Balanchine.
